An encyclopedic world bible that takes the reader through all aspects of Nereidonian life. From a timeline of major events to a history of governance, from maritime strategies to international relations — this text is designed to orient new readers, creatives, and educators into the Nereidonian world. It doesn't belong to one culture, but to all those this project pays homage to.
Why is this free?
The Codex serves as the entry point to the entire sandbox. No culture in this project is treated as exotic background material — and the Codex is how we make that visible. It is available to anyone who wants to understand the Nereidonian Civilization Project, without a purchase barrier.

A Timeline History of the Nereidonian Civilization

Greater Antilles Islands
67 BCE — A small ship carrying refugees fleeing civil conflict in Egypt arrives in the Caribbean, establishing the hybrid Egyptian and Arawak settlement of Coqui. Coqui is commonly considered the first Nereidonian settlement in northern Ayiti.
47 BCE — A second wave of Egyptian refugees arrives after the assassination of Cleopatra, bolstering the population of Nereidonian settlements which spread across Hispaniola and Cuba.
102 CE — The different Nereidonian settlements like Alexandria, Nefertiti and Akhenaten have grown over the last century, establishing trade routes between the islands. However, tensions arise as they compete for resources and influence.
152 CE — A great gathering of tribal elders led by high priestess Isadora is held in Nereus, leading to a unified Nereidian League with a Council of Elders that brings stability and allows shared development across the islands.

215 CE — The invention of the compass by navigator Talos of Ayiti allows Nereidonian sailors to navigate the seas with more accuracy and expand their maritime reach.
233 CE — Nereidonian ships reach as far as the Yucatan Peninsula, establishing trade with Maya cities like Tikal.
260 CE — The volcanic islands of Ayiti and Alliouagana suffer a devastating eruption and earthquake, forcing the Nereidonians to rebuild cities like Theris and Apollonia.
306 CE — Christian refugees fleeing persecution in Carthage arrive at the Nereidonian port of Pylos, introducing advanced medical knowledge and glasswork techniques.
The Republic of Nereidonia

313 CE — Roman legions fail to conquer the islands of Ayiti, Cubana, and Boriken. Emperor Constantine recognizes Nereidonia's independence after the Treaty of Palus.
386 CE — Nereidonian shipwrights adopt the lateen sail to replace square sails, allowing ships to sail against the wind and reach new Atlantic territories.
The Nereidonian Empire — Pax Nereidonia
Greater and Lesser Antilles, North / Central / South America, Canary Islands
502 CE — The islands of Nereidonia are united under one ruling council comprised of representatives from each major city-state.
528 CE — Scholars at the Library complete the Nereidonian Codex, a compendium of astronomical observations, navigational techniques, and star charts.
780 CE — The Nereidonian city-states enter a golden age, with advancements in science, culture and quality of life making them an Atlantic powerhouse.
